Volvo 9600 Seater-Sleeper Coach Unveiled in India at Prawaas 5.0

The commercial vehicle division of Volvo has expanded its premium coach portfolio in India with the launch of the Volvo 9600 Seater-Sleeper at Prawaas 5.0. The new integrated coach is designed for intercity, tourism and pilgrimage operations, offering a combination of reclining seats and sleeper berths on a single platform.

The latest addition to the Volvo 9600 range is aimed at operators looking to improve fleet utilisation by deploying one vehicle across both short- and long-distance routes, while also meeting the growing demand for premium bus travel in India.

The 15-metre Volvo 9600 Seater-Sleeper is powered by the company's VEDX8 diesel engine mated to the I-Shift automated transmission. It accommodates 51 passengers through 27 premium reclining seats with calf support, 21 upper sleeper berths and three rear sleeper berths. The coach also offers 6 cubic metres of underfloor luggage space to cater to long-distance travel requirements.

On the inside the cabin, the coach features upgraded interiors with ambient lighting, privacy partitions, integrated entertainment provisions and mobile charging points. Volvo has also equipped the coach with an onboard kitchenette and a toilet to improve passenger comfort during extended journeys.

Safety is another key highlight of the Volvo 9600 Seater-Sleeper. It comes equipped with a 360-degree camera system, camera-based electronic mirrors that replace conventional rear-view mirrors, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Driver State Monitoring System and an Alcohol Interlock System that prevents the vehicle from being driven if alcohol is detected.

The coach also gets Volvo's connected telematics solution, enabling fleet operators to monitor real-time data such as vehicle location, speed, fuel consumption, performance and operational alerts for better fleet management.

With the introduction of the Volvo 9600 Seater-Sleeper, Volvo Buses India has further expanded its premium coach range in the country, targeting operators seeking higher efficiency and a more premium travel experience for passengers.
