Volvo EX60: 810 Km EV Range Revealed Ahead of Global Debut on January 21
Volvo Cars is set to unveil its mid-size electric SUV, the EX60, on January 21th 2026. This model will replace the XC60 and be the first to utilize the new electric-only architecture. Volvo Cars has shared new technical details of its upcoming mid-size electric SUV, the EX60, ahead of its global debut scheduled for January 21. The model will serve as the all-electric successor to the XC60 and will be the first Volvo built on the brand’s new electric-only architecture.

Volvo EX60: Claimed EV Range
Volvo says the EX60, in all-wheel-drive form, is expected to deliver a driving range of up to 810km under the WLTP test cycle. Under the EPA test cycle used in the US, the same configuration is estimated to return up to 400 miles (around 644km) on a single charge. The company has stated that these figures are provisional and subject to final certification.
The WLTP and EPA numbers highlight the difference between the two test standards, with the European cycle generally producing higher range readings. Volvo has not yet confirmed whether a single-motor variant will be offered.
Volvo EX60: Fast Charging
The EX60 will use an 800-volt electrical system and support ultra-fast charging. Volvo claims that, under optimal conditions, the battery can add up to 340km of range in around 10 minutes when connected to a 400kW DC fast charger. In EPA terms, this equates to roughly 168 miles (270km) of range added in the same time.
The company notes that charging performance will depend on factors such as battery temperature, ambient conditions and charger output. A 10-year warranty will be offered on the battery pack.
Volvo EX60: Platform
The EX60 will be the first Volvo to use the new Scalable Product Architecture 3 (SPA3). The platform integrates the battery into the vehicle’s structure and supports the use of an 800-volt system. Volvo has also confirmed that the electric motors have been developed in-house.
Another first for the brand is the use of mega casting, a manufacturing process that replaces multiple smaller components with single large castings. According to Volvo, this approach reduces part count and overall weight.
Volvo EX60: Global Debut
The Volvo EX60 will make its global debut on January 21st 2026. On this date Volvo is likely to reveal full specifications, pricing and market-wise availability of the EX60. Volvo has confirmed that the SUV will be launched globally and positioned as a key model in its electric vehicle line-up.
