The Classic nameplate was previously offered with a choice between 500cc and 350cc bikes, however, the implementation of BS6 emission norms resulted in the larger one being discontinued, leaving only the Classic 350 on sale. However, Royal Enfield is now set to expand the Classic lineup with a 650cc iteration.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 will feature the same retro design as the smaller Classic 650 , including the tank shape, dual-tone and single-tone colour options along with extensive use of chrome. Powering the motorcycle will be the same 47bhp, 648cc air-cooled twin-cylinder engine as the other 650cc Royal Enfields, including Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Bear 650, Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650. However, the Royal Enfield Classic 650's engine could have a slight variation in the tuning for a more relaxed ride.
It will get disc brakes on both ends with dual-channel ABS, while Royal Enfield could also offer its latest round digital instrument cluster integrated Google Maps on the higher variants. Also on offer will be a LED headlight, LED tail lamp and LED turn indicators too. The Classic 650 could be priced around Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom), serving as the most affordable Royal Enfield 650 upon arrival. The bike is expected to debut at this year's Royal Enfield MotoVerse later this month. The Classic 650 will directly rival the recently launched BSA GoldStar 650 in India upon arrival.
