Audi U.S Recalls Q6 And SQ6 Models Over Blurry Rear Camera Issue

Audi has issued a voluntary recall for 313 vehicles in the U.S., which includes 280 units of Q6 and 33 units of SQ6 models that were produced between July 22 and December 17, 2024, due to a defect that can cause the rearview camera image to appear blurry or unclear, which could impair visibility while reversing.
According to the report filed by Audi To NHTSA said, An issue with the rearview camera may cause a blurry and/or unclear image on the central display. A rearview camera image that is blurry or unclear when reversing may impair the driver’s ability to see areas in the rear of the vehicle. This can increase the risk of a crash.
At all affected units it is possible that a lack of plasma cleaning during production of the cameras may result in an insufficient bonding of the camera housing which can allow moist ingress. This can Deteriorate the camera image and makes it blurry.
The safety risk associated with this defect is the reduced ability of the driver to see behind the vehicle when reversing, increasing the chance of an accident. However, Audi stated that no injuries, crashes, or warranty claims related to this issue have been reported so far.
Audi’s investigation began in November 2024 after complaints emerged from markets outside the U.S. The company, along with the supplier Continental Automotive Systems, traced the cause to a lapse in the cleaning process during production. By April 2, 2025, Audi confirmed the problem and approved a recall.
To deal with issue, Audi will replace the affected rearview cameras at no cost to vehicle owners. Additionally, if similar cameras with the same part number are found in other locations on the vehicle, those will also be replaced free of charge if needed. Since all impacted vehicles are still under the original factory warranty, no reimbursement program will be offered.
