Mitsubishi 7-Seater SUV Concept Teased, Set To Be Unveiled At Philippine Motor Show

Japanese automaker, Mitsubishi teased a 7-seater SUV expected to be unveiled at the Philippine Motor Show later this month. While the Japanese automaker left India in 2016 due to low sales, it has been focusing on other ASEAN markets.

Mitsubishi is expected to return to the Indian market by acquiring a stake of more than 30% in TVS Mobility.

Mitsubishi 7-Seater SUV Details

According to the teaser, the SUV concept is expected to be built on the same platform as the X-Force but bigger. Additionally, the SUV concept is expected to rival the Hyundai Alcazar in the ASEAN markets including the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand, among others, much like the X-Force is rivalling the Hyundai Creta.

While the SUV concept seen in the teaser is expected to be like the X-Force, there are going to be differences in styling and the wheelbase, owing to an extra row of seats.

According to reports, the SUV is expected to retain a similar interior as the X-Force with add-ons. Additionally, the feature list might include X-Force's 8-inch instrument cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment system. Moreover, the SUV is expected to feature a Yamaha-developed 8-speaker system in collaboration with Mitsubishi.

The engine specifications of the new SUV concept are expected to be similar to the X-Force SUV which is powered by a 1.5 L naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, producing 106.46 bhp and 141 Nm of torque mated to a CVT automatic gearbox. Mitsubishi is expected to offer four driving modes: Normal, Wet, Gravel and Mud.
