BMW Commences Production Of The Updated iX At Dingolfing Facility
The BMW iX xDrive60 remains BMW’s longest-range electric model, offering a claimed range of up to 701 km on a single charge. The company describes it as a key innovation for 2025, ahead of the upcoming "New Class" platform scheduled to debut later in the year. However, BMW has not confirmed whether the forthcoming iX3 will exceed this range.
With this update the BMW Dingolfing facility now produces four electric models from the BMW lineup including the i7 and i5 along with their estate variants. Other German plants handling EV production include Munich, which currently manufactures the i4 and will introduce an electric 3 Series sedan, and Regensburg, which builds the iX1 and iX2.
The facelifted iX retains its 400V architecture but features revised powertrains and battery configurations. The base iX xDrive40 has been rebranded as the iX xDrive45, with power increased by 60 kW to 300 kW, as a result its 0 to 100 kmph acceleration time has reduced from 6.1 to 5.1 seconds. The iX xDrive60, previously known as the iX xDrive50, now delivers 400 kW, achieving 0 to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds. Both versions have a top speed of 200 kmph.
The high-performance iX M70 xDrive (formerly iX M60 xDrive) now produces 485 kW and up to 1,100 Nm of torque in ‘My Mode Sport.’ With Launch Control, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds, or 3.5 seconds using the ‘one-foot rollout’ method. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.
Battery capacities have been increased across all variants. The base model sees the most significant upgrade, with energy content rising approximately 30 percent to 94.8 kWh from 74.1 kWh. The iX xDrive60 now features a 109.1 kWh battery (previously 108.8 kWh), while the iX M70 xDrive has a 108.9 kWh unit, up from 108.6 kWh.
