DDA And CESL To Set Up EV Charging And Battery Swapping Stations At Delhi Sports Complexes

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) formalized an agreement to develop electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery swapping stations in DDA sports complexes across Delhi. The agreement was signed in the presence of officials from both organizations.

Project Implementation and Locations

DDA will allocate land in its sports complexes for the installation of the charging stations. CESL will be responsible for setting up and managing the infrastructure. The facilities will be installed across locations in North, West, South, and East Delhi to improve accessibility for EV users.

Operational Model for Charging Stations

CESL will work with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) for the installation, testing, and maintenance of the stations. The project will follow a Build-Own-Operate-Maintain (BOOM) model to ensure long-term operation.
Commenting on the collaboration, MD & CEO, CESL, Vishal Kapoor said: “This partnership between CESL and DDA marks a crucial milestone in Delhi’s EV journey. By leveraging CESL’s expertise in upscaling clean energy solutions, we are creating a robust and accessible EV charging network that will drive faster EV adoption. CESL remains committed to pioneering sustainable and scalable solutions that contribute to India’s decarbonisation goals.”

EV Charging Infrastructure in India

CESL has installed 455 charging stations across India as part of its efforts to support EV adoption. This initiative in Delhi is expected to contribute to the expansion of EV infrastructure and support EV use in the city.
