India’s First Fully Electric AC Sleeper Bus Launched By NueGo For Intercity Travel

NueGo has launched India’s first fully electric AC sleeper bus service, adding to its existing electric intercity bus network, with the aim to make long distance travel peaceful and greener. The company plans to operate these buses on key routes such as Delhi–Amritsar, Bangalore–Chennai, Hyderabad–Rajahmundry, Chennai–Madurai, Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam and Bangalore–Madurai.

The Nuego buses are equipped with a 450 kWh high-voltage battery, certified in India, designed for long-distance travel. Company claims, It has a estimated driving range of 350 km on a single charge, which can be extended to 600 km per day with fast charging.

In terms of features, these electric sleeper buses include individual berths with backrests, USB charging ports, night reading lamps, berth pockets and sanitation facilities. The buses are also designed with soft-touch interiors, overhead storage and LED lighting.

The buses feature an aerodynamically designed front fascia, a monocoque chassis for improved handling, and a weight-optimized GI tubular structure. In terms of safety, they get ABS with ESC, full air suspension with ECAS and a rollover-engineered structure.

Operating with zero tailpipe emissions, the buses incorporate regenerative braking to improve efficiency. The design aims to reduce noise and vibrations compared to conventional sleeper buses.

NueGo has introduced safety measures such as CCTV surveillance, GPS tracking, speed lock at 80 kmph and a driver breath analyzer test. The company also provides a dedicated 24x7 helpline for women passengers and a “Pink Seat” booking option for female travelers.
