Tesla Model Y Launched in India at Rs 59.89 Lakh; Offers Up to 622 km Range

Tesla marked its entry into the Indian automotive market by launching the Model Y electric SUV. The vehicle is being offered in two variants: standard Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) at Rs 59.89 lakh and Long Range RWD at Rs 67.89 lakh (all prices Ex-showroom). Full Self Driving variant is available to buy for additional Rs 6 Lakh.

The standard RWD version of the Tesla Model Y delivers a WLTP-certified range of 500 km. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and supports fast charging that can provide up to 238 km of range in 15 minutes. The Long Range RWD variant offers a maximum range of 622 km, with a 0-100 km/h time of 5.6 seconds and fast charging capability for up to 267 km in 15 minutes.

The Model Y is based on the Tesla Model 3 sedan platform. It measures 4,751 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,624 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,891 mm.

Tesla Model Y is likely to be offered with two battery pack options: 60 kWh and 81 kWh, though official confirmation on battery sizes is pending. While the vehicle supports fast charging up to 250 kW, Tesla’s dedicated Supercharging network is not yet available in India. Buyers may need to rely on home box chargers or existing third-party charging stations.

All trims of the Tesla Model Y come with a 15.4-inch front touchscreen, an 8-inch second-row screen, nine speakers, ambient lighting and laminated safety glass. Additional equipment includes power-adjustable and heated seating, aluminum detailing, hands-free trunk access and eight exterior cameras. Additionally, the Model Y gets climate control, gaming, video streaming and remote vehicle access are managed through Tesla's software system. In terms of safety, it gets emergency braking, forward collision and lane departure warnings blind-spot detection and more.

The Tesla Model Y is available in six exterior colors: Stealth Grey, Pearl White, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, Quicksilver and Ultra Red.
