2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S Launched at Rs 8.23 Lakh: Gets More Torque and New Colour
Kawasaki has updated its middleweight cruiser lineup in India with the launch of the 2027 Vulcan S. Priced at Rs 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom), the new model is Rs 10,000 more expensive than the outgoing 2026 version. While the overall motorcycle remains largely unchanged, Kawasaki has made a few updates to the engine, braking hardware and colour options.
Key Highlights:
2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S launched at Rs 8.23 lakh- Gets 1.4Nm more torque than the 2026 model
- Brake disc sizes reduced at both ends
- New Metallic Carbon Gray/M Metallic Bluish Green colour added
2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S: Engine
The biggest change for the new model year is the engine output. The Vulcan S continues to use a 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, but torque has increased to 62.4Nm at 6,600rpm. This is 1.4Nm more than the 61Nm produced by the 2026 model. Peak power remains unchanged at 60bhp at 7,500rpm. The engine continues to be paired with a six-speed gearbox. Kawasaki's official specifications confirm the 62.4Nm torque figure for the 2027 model.
2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S: Brake Disc Sizes Reduced
The 2027 Vulcan S also gets revised braking hardware. The front disc diameter has been reduced from 300mm to 272mm, while the rear disc has been downsized from 250mm to 216mm. Dual-channel ABS continues to be offered as the motorcycle's only electronic rider aid.
There are no changes to the suspension setup. The motorcycle continues with a 41mm front fork with 130mm of travel, while the rear gets a linkage-equipped monoshock with 80mm of travel and adjustable preload.
The Vulcan S retains its 705mm seat height, 130mm ground clearance and 235kg kerb weight. Its 1,575mm wheelbase and 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels also remain unchanged.
The low seat height continues to make the cruiser relatively accessible to a wide range of riders. However, its 130mm ground clearance could require some caution over tall speed breakers and rough roads.
2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S: New Colour Added
For 2027, Kawasaki has replaced the previous Metallic Flat Spark Black finish with a new Metallic Carbon Gray/M Metallic Bluish Green paint scheme. The new finish adds subtle green highlights while retaining the motorcycle's familiar cruiser design. The Vulcan S continues to be sold in a single standard variant. Other features remain unchanged, including the analogue-style tachometer, adjustable footpegs and a 14-litre fuel tank.
2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S: Price and Rivals
The 2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S is priced at Rs 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom), compared with Rs 8.13 lakh for the 2026 model. This represents a Rs 10,000 price increase. The Vulcan S continues to occupy a niche position in India's middleweight cruiser segment. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is one of its closest rivals in terms of engine capacity and positioning, although the Kawasaki is priced considerably higher.
