Ather Konarc Electric Scooter Launched in India: Top 5 Highlights

Ather Energy has expanded its electric scooter range with the launch of the new Konarc at its Annual Community Day. Positioned as a more practical and comfort-focused offering, the Konarc is based on Ather’s new EL platform and is available in three variants with claimed IDC ranges of up to 161km. The company has also confirmed plans for a 200km version and feature-rich Z variants.

1. Ather Konarc Gets Three Variants

The Ather Konarc is available in S 100, S 125 and S 161 variants, with the numbers indicating their claimed IDC range. Prices start at Rs 1 lakh for the S 100, while the S 125 and S 161 are priced at Rs 1.22 lakh and Rs 1.45 lakh, respectively.
Ather has also showcased the Konarc Z, which will be available with 125km and 161km IDC range options. Their prices have not been announced yet. A 200km version is also planned for a later date.

2. New EL Platform Promises Better Comfort

The Konarc is the first scooter to use Ather's new EL platform, which has been developed using 26 lakh kilometres of field data. The platform gets a new chassis, powertrain and electronics architecture and is designed to support different scooter formats.
The scooter gets 90mm of front and 100mm of rear suspension travel, along with a 1,352mm wheelbase. A 14-inch front wheel and 12-inch rear wheel are also part of the package. Ather claims the longer wheelbase and increased suspension travel should improve ride comfort and stability.
The company also says the new platform can reduce assembly time by 15 percent, while periodic servicing could be up to twice as quick.

3. Up to 161km Range and 70kmph Top Speed

The Konarc S 100 uses a 2.1kWh battery and produces 4kW and 16Nm. The S 125 and S 161 get 2.7kWh and 3.5kWh battery packs, respectively, with 4.7kW and 16Nm on offer.
All three variants have a claimed top speed of 70kmph. Their TrueRange figures stand at 80km, 100km and 130km, respectively.
The scooter gets a PMSM motor and an IP67-rated battery housed in an aluminium casing. Kerb weight ranges from 126.5kg for the S 100 to 129kg for the S 161.

4. Charging, Storage and Practicality

Ather offers a 450W onboard charger as standard. Buyers can add a 900W off-board charger, taking the combined charging capacity to 1.35kW.
With the standard charger, charging from 0-80 percent takes 4 hours on the S 100, 4 hours 30 minutes on the S 125 and 5 hours 40 minutes on the S 161. With the combined charger, these times drop to two hours, 2 hours 25 minutes and 3 hours 10 minutes, respectively.
The Konarc also gets 31 litres of underseat storage, an 18W USB Type-C port and an underseat lamp. Other features include Park Assist reverse and AutoHold.

5. Z Variant Gets New Safety and Connected Features

The upcoming Konarc Z will bring some of Ather's latest technology. One of the key additions is the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS), which is designed to improve braking control, reduce stopping distances and minimise rear-wheel lock-ups.
Another new feature is MagicKey, which allows riders to unlock the boot using the Ather app. On the Konarc Z 161, it is paired with an AutoPop function that automatically opens the boot.
The Z variants also get Google Maps and WhatsApp on the dashboard, while cricket scores can be displayed when the scooter is stationary. Ather Connect features such as theft and tow alerts, ride statistics, Find My Scooter and remote charging-status monitoring are also available.
