BMW X1 LWB Launched in India: 5 Key Highlights
The BMW X1 has become more practical for buyers who prefer to be chauffeured around. BMW India has launched the new X1 Long Wheelbase (LWB) at an introductory price of Rs 49.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Locally produced at BMW's Chennai plant, the SUV gets a longer wheelbase, more rear-seat space and additional technology over the standard X1. Here are the five key highlights you need to know.
1. Longest SUV in its Segment
The biggest change is the extended wheelbase. The BMW X1 LWB gets a 2,800mm wheelbase, which is 108mm longer than the standard X1. This frees up 150mm more rear legroom and 109mm more kneeroom.
BMW has also extended the rear-seat cushioning by 15mm, while the seats can recline up to 28.5 degrees. These changes are aimed at making the rear cabin more comfortable on long journeys.
2. 1.5-Litre Turbo-Petrol Engine
The X1 LWB is powered by a 1.5-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine producing 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and sends power to the front wheels.
BMW claims a fuel efficiency figure of 15.5km/l. The suspension has also been retuned to improve ride quality, particularly over uneven roads.
3. More Technology and Premium Features
Inside, the SUV gets BMW's Widescreen Curved Display running Operating System 9. Other highlights include a 205W Harman Kardon sound system with 12 speakers and a large 9-square-foot panoramic sunroof, which BMW says is the biggest in its segment.
The X1 LWB also gets Comfort Access 2.0, allowing owners to unlock the car without having to tap their phone or smartwatch against the door handle.
4. Adaptive LED Headlights with Cornering Function
The BMW X1 LWB gets Adaptive LED headlights that extend towards the sides of the front bumper. They feature a cornering function designed to improve visibility while taking bends.
A High Beam Assistant automatically adjusts the headlights when it detects oncoming traffic, reducing the need for the driver to manually switch between high and low beams.
5. BMW X1 LWB Price and Ownership Package
The new BMW X1 LWB is priced at an introductory Rs 49.90 lakh (ex-showroom). BMW is also offering monthly instalments starting at Rs 44,444 through BMW Smart Finance, along with an assured 60% buyback value after four years.
The SUV gets a 2-year unlimited-kilometre warranty and 24x7 roadside assistance. Warranty and service packages can be extended up to 10 years or 1 lakh km.
Since the price is introductory, buyers should check with their nearest BMW dealer to confirm whether the Rs 49.90 lakh price applies to all configurations or specific variants.
