Jaguar Type 01 Interior Revealed Ahead of October 6 Global Debut
Jaguar has revealed the interior of the upcoming Type 01 electric grand tourer ahead of its global debut in New York on October 6th 2026. The new model is based on the Type 00 concept and will be the first production Jaguar to arrive as part of the brand’s new all-electric product strategy.
The Type 01 retains several of the design themes showcased by the concept, including a central spine, four individual seating areas and technology that is integrated into the cabin rather than displayed prominently. Jaguar has also used brass-effect detailing and materials inspired by travertine stone and artisan textiles.
Jaguar Type 01: Interior Design Revealed
The central feature of the Type 01 cabin is a spine that runs through the length of the interior. It separates the cabin into four distinct sections, with each occupant getting an individual space.
The spine gets a brass-like finish and also houses a small vertical display towards the front. This screen is expected to control functions such as the climate system. Jaguar refers to some of the cabin’s integrated technology as ‘hidden on-demand technology’, with certain functions concealed until required.
The dashboard follows a slim design and has separate visual treatments for the driver and front passenger. The driver gets a digital display, while the passenger side features Jaguar’s ‘strikethrough’ design elements.
The two-spoke steering wheel gets touch-sensitive controls on either side. The controls have raised sections and indentations, allowing the driver to locate them without having to look down.
Jaguar Type 01: Digital Rear-View Display
One of the more unusual features of the Type 01 is its approach to rear visibility. Instead of a conventional rear windscreen view, the car uses a digital rear-view display. The screen is positioned at the bottom of the windscreen and is placed at a similar height to the exterior door mirrors. It displays the feed from cameras mounted at the rear of the car. The low dashboard also visually connects with the bonnet, creating a link between the exterior and interior design. Jaguar has used this approach to carry the Type 00 concept’s design language into the production model.
Jaguar Type 01: Seating Layout & Cabin Materials
The Type 01 will have a four-seat cabin, with the central spine helping define individual areas for the occupants. Jaguar has also focused on providing a low seating position, something that requires additional attention in an electric car because of the battery pack positioned beneath the floor.
The cabin gets a low and sweeping roofline with a panoramic glass section. The seats feature dual-tone upholstery, while the materials and textures take inspiration from travertine stone and artisan textiles. Brass-effect elements are used on the central spine and doors. The Jaguar leaper logo has also been incorporated into the door design.
Jaguar has focused on keeping some storage areas and cabin functions concealed. This approach is intended to keep the dashboard and door panels visually uncluttered when these features are not in use.
Jaguar Type 01: Expected Powertrain & Range
The Jaguar Type 01 will be based on the company’s Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). The electric grand tourer is expected to use a three-motor setup producing more than 1,000bhp. Jaguar has also confirmed a claimed range of more than 700km. More details about the battery, charging capability and performance are expected to be announced closer to the global debut.
