KTM 390 Adventure R Launched in India at Rs 3.77 Lakh
Austrian automaker KTM has expanded its adventure motorcycle portfolio in India with the launch of the 390 Adventure R . KTM has launched the 390 Adventure R motorcycle in the country with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 3.77 lakh. In India the KTM 390 Adventure is priced at Rs 3.96 lakh (ex-showroom), this pricing makes the 390 Adventure R more affordable than the standard 390 Adventure in the domestic market. The company has also kicked open bookings for this new model across all authorized around the country for an amount of Rs 2,000.
The 390 Adventure R is positioned as the most off-road-focused version in the 390 Adventure range. The primary changes are to the suspension and wheel setup. The motorcycle uses WP Apex suspension with 230mm of travel at both the front and rear. In comparison, the standard 390 Adventure offers 200mm of front travel and 205mm at the rear. This suspension configuration is similar to the export-spec Enduro R and is aimed at riders who prioritise trail riding.
Wheel and tyre specifications further underline the R’s intent. The 390 Adventure R gets a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination fitted with tube-type Mitas Enduro Trail tyres. The standard 390 Adventure, by contrast, runs a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear setup with tubeless tyres. The use of tube-type wheels is also a key reason for the R variant’s lower price point.
Changes to the cycle parts have resulted in revised dimensions. Seat height now stands at 870 mm, while ground clearance has increased to 272 mm. These figures place the 390 Adventure R among the taller and more trail-oriented motorcycles in its segment and may influence accessibility for shorter riders.
On the mechanical front this motorcycle is quite similar to the standard 390 adventure. It is also powered by the 398.63cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which produces around 45.3bhp and 39Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and features a bidirectional quickshifter. It also gets ride-by-wire, traction control, cornering ABS and multiple ride modes similar to the standard 390 Adventure model.
In terms of design, the KTM 390 Adventure R largely mirrors the standard model, with differences limited to colour and detailing. The R variant features an orange-finished trellis frame and a distinct white-and-orange colour scheme. Bodywork and chassis construction remain the same as the existing 390 Adventure.
With this launch, KTM’s adventure lineup in India now comprises three models: the 390 Adventure X, the standard 390 Adventure, and the newly introduced 390 Adventure R.
