Most Powerful Land Cruiser Yet: Toyota LC300 Hybrid Introduced in Europe
Toyota has introduced a hybrid version of the Land Cruiser 300 for the first time. The new model combines a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo petrol engine with an electric motor, offering higher power output while retaining the SUV’s established off-road capability. The model will be sold in selected eastern European markets from January 2026.
Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid
The Land Cruiser is Toyota ’s longest-running production model, with its origins dating back to 1954. Over nearly seven decades, the nameplate has expanded into three parallel product lines to serve different markets and use cases. These include the Station Wagon series, which is currently represented by the 300 Series, the Heavy Duty range led by the 70 Series that continues to be sold in select regions, and the Light Duty line-up, which includes the newer 250 Series developed primarily for Europe. The newly introduced hybrid powertrain is being offered on the Station Wagon-based Land Cruiser 300. Toyota has confirmed that the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid will go on sale in selected eastern European markets starting in January 2026.

Powertrain
For the first time, the Land Cruiser 300 is offered with a hybrid setup. The system combines a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo petrol engine with a single motor-generator in a parallel hybrid configuration. Total system output is rated at 450bhp and 790 Nm of torque, making it the highest-output Land Cruiser to date.
The electric motor is positioned between the engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission and is supported by a nickel-metal hydride battery. The system allows short-distance electric-only driving at speeds below 30 kmph and supports energy regeneration during braking.
Performance and Drivetrain Details
According to Toyota, the hybrid system improves throttle response compared to the existing diesel-powered Land Cruiser 300. The petrol engine and electric motor can work together or independently, depending on driving conditions. An electric power steering system has also been introduced with this model.
Off-Road Capability and Testing
Toyota states that the hybrid Land Cruiser 300 has been tested in demanding environments. The battery housing has been waterproofed to maintain a wading depth of up to 700 mm. Core off-road systems such as low-range gearing, terrain management modes and electronic driver aids are retained.
