Bajaj Auto will expand its electric two-wheeler portfolio with a new Chetak-branded scooter. The launch is scheduled for January 14, 2026. This version is expected to be positioned below the current Chetak models, with an emphasis on affordability and essential equipment.

Design Changes Teased

The official launch invite reveals a revised rear design. The upcoming scooter uses a single horizontal LED tail-light strip, replacing the split vertical LED setup seen on existing models. Turn indicators are placed at the ends of the light unit, while the Chetak nameplate is positioned above it. No other exterior details have been confirmed so far.

Expected Hardware and Features

The new Chetak variant is expected to use a hub-mounted electric motor. Suspension duties are likely to be handled by a telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. The scooter is expected to ride on 12-inch alloy wheels. Braking is likely to include a front disc and rear drum combination. To keep costs in check, the scooter is expected to feature a basic LCD instrument cluster instead of a TFT display.

Current Chetak Range for Reference

The current Bajaj Chetak EV lineup includes battery options of 3 kWh and 3.5 kWh, sold under the 3001 and 35 series. The 35 series is available in 3501, 3502 and 3503 variants. Entry-level versions get an LCD display with limited connectivity, while higher variants offer TFT screens and added software features. Prices currently range from Rs 99,500 to Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom).
