New Dodge Charger Super Bee Debuts Globally: Gets Bigger Turbos and Track-Focused Upgrades
Unique styling and new driving modes, including a rear-wheel-drive option, further elevate its performance. Pricing details will be disclosed later this year.
New Dodge Charger Super Bee Debuts Globally: Gets Bigger Turbos and Track-Focused Upgrades
The legendary Dodge Super Bee name is making a comeback, and this time it returns as the most powerful Charger Sixpack yet. Revealed for the 2027 model year, the new Dodge Charger Super Bee gets a more powerful twin-turbo engine, upgraded suspension, bigger brakes and improved cooling and aerodynamics. Dodge says the new variant has been developed to deliver the most track-focused driving experience yet from a Charger Sixpack.
Key Highlights:
- 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee produces 600 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque
- Gets larger turbochargers, upgraded cooling and improved aerodynamics
- Comes with AWD as standard, with a selectable rear-wheel-drive mode
- 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds and quarter-mile time of 11.8 seconds
591bhp Twin-Turbo Engine
The 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee is powered by a revised version of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six engine. It produces 591bhp and 719Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Charger Sixpack variant so far.
The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and comes with all-wheel drive as standard. However, Dodge has added a new rear-wheel-drive mode that allows drivers to send 100 percent of the available torque to the rear wheels.
The extra performance comes from larger 56mm Garrett Motion turbochargers. According to Dodge, the new turbos push 7.5 percent more air through the engine. Peak torque is also available earlier, from 3,000 rpm, and remains available until 5,900 rpm.
Dodge claims that the Charger Super Bee can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, while the quarter-mile run takes 11.8 seconds.
Major Cooling and Aerodynamic Upgrades
Major Cooling and Aerodynamic Upgrades
Dodge has made significant changes to the Charger Super Bee's cooling system to handle the additional performance. High-temperature radiator capacity has increased by more than 50 percent, while the low-temperature cooling circuit now offers more than twice the previous capacity.
The Super Bee also gets a redesigned front fascia and reworked headlights. These changes increase airflow by 30 percent and generate more than 100 pounds of additional downforce at 150 mph.
The front fascia also incorporates auxiliary radiators, while the repositioned front-end components create room for additional cooling hardware and air ducts. The car also gets an extended front splitter and a larger performance spoiler.
Dodge says the Super Bee benefits from a comprehensive thermal management system designed specifically for track use.
Bigger Brakes and Performance Hardware
The 2027 Charger Super Bee rides on 20x11-inch forged wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tyres measuring 305/35ZR20.
Stopping power comes from 16-inch Brembo brakes, with six-piston fixed calipers at the front and four-piston units at the rear.
The Super Bee Launch Edition also gets new Continuous Damping Control (CDC) dual-valve adaptive dampers. Dodge has strengthened several suspension components to improve handling and reduce understeer.
The front tension-link bushings are 25 percent stiffer, while the front handling-link bushings are 50 percent stiffer. The rear stabiliser bar is 20 percent stiffer, while front and rear spring rates have increased by 12 percent and 6 percent, respectively.
New Track and Drag Modes
Dodge has added new driving modes to help drivers make the most of the Super Bee's performance. Track Mode and Drag Mode come with different chassis, transmission and traction-control calibrations.
Drag Mode reduces front rebound and increases rear compression force to improve power transfer during hard launches. Track Mode gets revised traction and stability settings, sharper steering and higher shift points.
The Super Bee also brings back Dodge's Torque Reserve system. During a launch, the system builds boost while limiting torque at the wheels. Once the driver releases the brake, the stored torque is delivered to reduce turbo lag and improve acceleration.
Another new feature is Race Prep, which keeps the electric cooling fan running after the engine is switched off to help lower engine temperatures after hard driving.
Dedicated RWD Mode
One of the biggest changes is the addition of a dedicated rear-wheel-drive button on the steering wheel. With the press of a button, drivers can send all available torque to the rear wheels.
The system is designed to make the Charger Super Bee more engaging on the road or track. Dodge has also included a Line Lock function for controlled rear-wheel burnouts.
Super Bee Gets Unique Styling
The Super Bee Launch Edition will be offered in a new SuckerPunch yellow-green exterior colour, which joins another new 2027 shade called Shady.
Customers who prefer a darker finish can choose Diamond Black, which gets SuckerPunch-coloured accents on parts such as the rear spoiler and front fascia.
The Super Bee also receives unique graphics and a dedicated Super Bee badge to distinguish it from other Charger variants.
Inside, the car gets new performance seats with Super Bee branding. There is also a new leather-wrapped performance steering wheel with the dedicated RWD button, along with larger paddle shifters and special instrument panel badging.
