Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Crosses 500,000 Locally Manufactured Engines

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has reached the milestone of manufacturing 500,000 units of locally-manufactured engines at its Chakan, manufacturing facility. Reflecting Skoda’s manufacturing capabilities and commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative while supplying powertrain solutions to domestic and global markets.

Skoda have been producing engines at the Chakan plant since 2014, with a focus on localization while maintaining quality standards. The plant produces powertrain solutions that meet fuel efficiency and emission compliance requirements.

The company continues to expand local engine manufacturing as part of its contribution to India’s automotive sector. The Chakan facility remains part of the Volkswagen Group’s global strategy, supplying engines to various markets while focusing on production practices.
