Addressing an audience of global partners, OEMs and technology leaders, Soin reflected on Qualcomm’s two-decade journey in India and underlined three pillars of the company’s strategy: innovating in India for the world, delivering premium experiences tailored for Indian consumers and deepening collaborations across the local automotive ecosystem.
“We have more engineers in India than anywhere else in the world,” Soin noted. “That engineering horsepower is driving cutting-edge innovations for Indian and global OEMs alike. We are proud of what our teams in Bengaluru, Noida, Hyderabad and Chennai are achieving.”
Soin also highlighted India's shift from a cost-sensitive mobile phone market to a hub for premium digital experiences—spanning smart glasses, connected vehicles, and AI-powered cockpit solutions. “India is not low-end anymore,” he said. “It’s about delivering world-class experiences from two-wheelers to passenger cars, built for India, in India.”
Responding to strong industry demand for leapfrogging technology, Qualcomm hosted over 120 demos at the event, showcasing its expanding Snapdragon Digital Chassis platform, including developments in car-to-cloud services, in-cabin AI and connected mobility.
“‘Jo dikhta hai, wo bikta hai’ and today, we’re showing it all,” Soin remarked, quoting a local saying, while encouraging visitors to explore live demonstrations developed in partnership with Indian and global Tier 1s and OEMs.
Snapdragon for India Auto Day marked a significant step in Qualcomm’s automotive push, with Soin emphasising the platform’s growing relevance: “We hope you can see why Snapdragon is the platform of choice, and why we are the partner of choice for India’s auto future.”
The event also featured Nakul Duggal, Group GM of Automotive & IoT at Qualcomm, who was recognised by Soin as one of the founding visionaries of Qualcomm’s automotive journey, dating back to its early OmniTRACS days.
