Upcoming Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Teased Ahead of India Debut on April 9

The Indian division of the German automaker Volkswagen has today released a teaser of its upcoming car in India. The teaser dropped by Volkswagen India confirmed that the next product from the company to debut in the Indian market will be the Taigun facelift, which will be unveiled on April 9th 2026.

Following the introduction of the Skoda Kushaq facelift, the anticipation for the arrival of the Taigun facelift was high and it was considered a matter of time that the automaker will bring the updated version of the SUV to Indian shores. Now, Volkswagen has confirmed the same with a teaser.

The 2026 model year Taigun facelift is expected to be introduced with cosmetic, mechanical and features updates. On the mechanical front the upcoming Taigun facelift will continue to be offered with the 1.0L TSI turbo petrol engine producing 113.42bhp and 178Nm of torque; this engine will retain its 6-speed MT option but is expected to get a new 8-speed AT which was earlier introduced in the Kushaq. The second engine on offer will be the 1.5TSI turbo-petrol engine which produces 147.94bhp and 250Nm of torque; this engine will get a 7-speed DSG and enthusiasts are also anticipating the 6-speed MT. However, the changes of the 6-speed MT are bleak but cannot be ruled out as Volkswagen is known to cater to enthusiasts in the country.

On the design front the 2026 Taigun facelift is likely to come with a revised front and rear design. At the front it can get a revised bumper, grille and headlamp cluster. On the sides it can get a new alloy wheel design. The rear design of the outgoing Taigun was pretty spot on but we can expect few tweaks in the LED lighting elements and a new rear bumper.

As far as pricing goes it is likely to be priced at par with the new Skoda Kushaq which starts from Rs 10.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
