German automaker Volkswagen has today announced its plans for the Indian market for 2026. Sharing this update Volkswagen India confirmed that it has planned five new products in 2026; one scheduled for each quarter. Volkswagen also outlined that this strategy includes models across SUV, sedan and hatchback segments.
The first launch from Volkswagen will be the Tayron R-Line, which will sit at the top of the brand’s India lineup. Positioned above the Tiguan R-Line, the Tayron R-Line is a three-row, 7-seater SUV and will be brought to India via the CKD route. The Tayron R-Line will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner and other premium SUVs in its segment.
Apart from the Tayron R-Line, Volkswagen can introduce the Taigun facelift in the second quarter. Since Skoda has recently taken the wraps off the facelifted Kushaq SUV in India and the Taigun shares the same underpinnings we expect it to be next in line. Other expected models can include the likes of Virtus, Tera and some iteration of the Golf.
Currently, Volkswagen India’s lineup includes the Virtus, Taigun, Tiguan R-Line and the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Nitin Kohli, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said, “Today, we are glad to showcase the Tayron R-Line for the first time in India. I am also delighted to announce that we have planned four more product interventions throughout the year. This year, every quarter will witness a new product intervention that will cater to a different premium customer set. Our objective is to continue building excitement for customers through smart product actions and introducing models that will continue to build aspirations.”
