Pre-Owned Polestar 2 Gets Battery Transparency With New Certification
Polestar has introduced battery state-of-health certificates as part of its pre-owned programme, providing transparency on battery condition for used Polestar 2 models.
Pre-Owned Polestar 2 Gets Battery Transparency With New Certification
Polestar has started issuing battery state-of-health (BSOH) certificates for used Polestar 2 electric vehicles as part of its pre-owned programme. The new measure aims to inform buyers about the remaining battery capacity in each car before purchase. Polestar has stated that further updates regarding BSOH certificates for other models like Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 will be shared in the future.
Battery Health Certification
Each pre-owned Polestar 2 that re-enters the company’s network will now include a battery certificate showing the usable battery capacity as a percentage. This is intended to help customers understand the current condition of the battery, which is a key component in electric vehicles.
Vehicle Inspection and Documentation
Before receiving certification, every car goes through a 112-point inspection carried out at an official Polestar service centre. In addition, Polestar verifies the mileage, service records, and ownership history of each car. All certified used vehicles include a 24-month warranty and continue to be covered under the remaining term of the original eight-year battery warranty.
Michael Lohscheller, Polestar CEO, said, “Thanks to our new battery state-of-health certificate, we’ve just added another reason for used EV buyers to purchase a pre-owned Polestar 2. Along with the 112-point check, 24-month warranty and roadside assistance, plus our commitment to continually enhance our vehicles via over-the-air software updates, buyers can be confident they’re getting the very best example of a used Polestar 2 possible.”
Ongoing Software Support
Polestar 2 has received more than 20 over-the-air (OTA) software updates since it launched in 2020. These updates have included improvements to energy efficiency and added support for new features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and app integrations. The same updates are available to used vehicles, ensuring access to the latest software.
