Kerala Police Adds Maruti Suzuki Jimny To Its Fleet: Check Details

Kerala Police have officially added Maruti Suzuki Jimny to its ranks. The department has added the Alpha variants to its fleet. The Indian armed forces and the police department have used Maruti Suzuki Jimny’s predecessor, Maruti Suzuki Gypsy for more than two decades.

When launched internationally, the fourth-generation Jimny received plenty of attention from the Indian automotive audience. Maruti Suzuki in 2023 launched the five-door version of the vehicle instead of the three-door version that was launched globally.

The Jimny is powered by a 1.5 L 1456cc K15B engine producing 103.37 bhp and 134.2 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the Jimny utilises a ladder-frame chassis, weighing approximately 1,200 kg.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny features an AllGrip Pro 4x4 technology with three settings including two-high, four-high and four-low. Additionally, the Jimny boasts of a three-link rigid axle suspension with coil spring along with a limited slip differential, ensuring more ground contact in an off-road environment. Moreover, the car comes equipped with six airbags, hill hold assist, hill descent control, and LED headlamp washer, among others.

Furthermore, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny boasts an approach angle of 36 degrees and a departure angle of 47 degrees. The ground clearance of the Jimny is approximately 210mm. According to reports, the Jimny has a water wading capacity of 300-310mm.

The only off-roader in Maruti Suzuki’s arsenal is priced at Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 14.95 lakh. When launched in 2023, Maruti Suzuki claimed that the Jimny received 35,000 bookings. However, the company had announced several offers for the off-roader amid a dip in sales, with prices falling as low as Rs 9.99 lakh.
