The headline update for the 2026 model year is the introduction of the Defender Vertex, which will be available in 90, 110 and 130 body styles. Positioned alongside the Defender X, the new variant receives a revised exterior with a larger front grille, redesigned front and rear bumpers, updated fog lamps, body-coloured lower cladding, a Gloss Black roof spoiler, yellow brake calipers and exposed rear recovery eyes.
It also rides on 22-inch Satin Dark Grey alloy wheels as standard, while additional 20-inch and 22-inch wheel designs are available depending on the market. Buyers can choose from exterior shades including Fuji White, Santorini Black, Woolstone Green, Borasco Grey, Carpathian Grey and Patagonia White Matte.

The updated Defender range now offers up to 15 exterior colour options, with Namib Orange joining the palette. The company has also expanded the availability of its Matte and newly introduced Gloss Protective Films, both featuring self-healing properties to reduce the impact of minor scratches and stone chips.
The Defender Trophy Edition has received a new Santorini Black exterior finish, while the Defender OCTA is now offered in Woolstone Green alongside its existing paint options.
2026 Land Rover Defender: New Six-Seat Layout
On the inside the cabin of the Defender 110 is now available with a new 2+2+2 seating configuration. The second row features individual captain seats with armrests and manual recline, improving access to the third row while creating additional storage space between the seats.
The updated Defender also gains an AI-powered "Hey Land Rover" voice assistant. An optional Technology Pack adds features such as a head-up display, Meridian surround sound system, camera-based interior rear-view mirror and a domestic power socket.
Depending on the variant, the Vertex comes equipped with three-zone or four-zone climate control, cabin air purification and upholstery options including Windsor Leather, Forged Textile and Ultrafabrics.
2026 Land Rover Defender: Revised Powertrains
Land Rover has expanded the Defender's petrol engine range with the introduction of a new 3.0L 6-cylinder mild-hybrid P380 engine producing 380hp and 550 Nm of torque. In selected markets, the previous 2.0L P300 petrol unit has been replaced by a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine developing 300hp and 470Nm.
The Defender OCTA's 4.4L twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 has also been updated to comply with stricter emission regulations. While peak power has been reduced to around 540hp depending on the market, torque continues to stand at 750Nm. The SUV also receives a revised exhaust system designed to deliver a deeper V8 exhaust note.
