New BMW 7 Series Makes Global Debut With Updated Design, Features and Enhanced EV Range

BMW has taken the wraps off the updated 7 Series , bringing a set of revisions that go beyond a routine mid-cycle update. The flagship sedan gets design tweaks, a reworked cabin with new display architecture, and a broader powertrain mix. Production is scheduled to begin in July, while the India launch is expected around late 2026 or early 2027.

New BMW 7 Series: Design

The overall silhouette and proportions of the new 7 Series remain identical to the ongoing model, but BMW has worked on key visual elements. The split headlamp layout continues, now with slimmer DRLs placed higher and vertically stacked main units integrated into the bumper.
The kidney grille remains a focal point, now featuring horizontal slats. The bumper has been reprofiled, and the bonnet lines appear more defined.
At the rear, the tail-lamps are slimmer with a revised light signature and a darker lower section. The profile looks cleaner with fewer creases, and the option of 22-inch alloy wheels is now available. New paint options, including dual-tone finishes, have also been added.

New BMW 7 Series: Cabin & Features

The cabin sees the most significant changes. The new Panoramic iDrive setup integrates a full-width display at the base of the windscreen, paired with a 17.9-inch central touchscreen and a 14.6-inch passenger display. The system runs BMW Operating System X and supports over-the-air updates, navigation and voice functions.
Physical controls have been reduced further. A new twin-spoke steering wheel and a crystal gear selector are part of the update.
Rear seat experience continues to be central. The 31.3-inch Theatre Screen supports 8K content, along with video calls and gaming. Rear passengers also get integrated touch controls for seat and screen functions.
Other features include a panoramic roof with integrated ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, and an optional audio system with up to 36 speakers and Dolby Atmos support. The Executive Lounge package continues to be offered.
