New-Gen Audi Q3 Set to Launch in India Tomorrow: What to Expect?
The wait for the new-generation Audi Q3 is almost over. Audi is set to unveil the latest iteration of its popular compact luxury SUV in India on August 25 (today). The new Q3 has already made its international debut. Once launched, it will take on rivals including the BMW X1 LWB and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
Key Highlights:
- New-generation Audi Q3 to debut in India on August 25
- Gets a completely redesigned exterior and more technology inside
- India-spec model expected to use a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine
- Expected to feature Quattro all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DCT
New Audi Q3: Expected Design
The new Audi Q3 gets a major design overhaul compared to the outgoing model. At the front, it features a larger Singleframe grille, sharper headlamps and a more sculpted bonnet.
The rear design is equally distinctive, with a full-width lighting element, digital OLED taillights and illuminated Audi rings on higher-spec versions. The SUV can also be equipped with advanced Matrix LED headlamps featuring micro-LED technology.
Audi has given each daytime running light 23 individual segments, allowing the Q3 to offer different lighting signatures.
New Audi Q3: Interior
The cabin of the new Q3 has also received significant changes. One of the biggest updates is the repositioned gear selector, which is now mounted on the steering column instead of the centre console. This frees up additional space between the front seats for storage.
The dashboard follows Audi's latest design language and gets an updated digital interface. Acoustic glass for the front windows is also expected to help reduce road and wind noise inside the cabin.
New Audi Q3: Safety and Driver Assistance Features
Audi has added several new technology and safety features to the Q3. An interior camera can monitor the driver for signs of fatigue or distraction.
The SUV also gets upgraded adaptive cruise control and lane assistance systems. Its parking system can remember complex parking manoeuvres and repeat them when required. A reverse assist function can also retrace the vehicle's recent path, making it easier to exit tight spaces.
Audi Q3: Expected Engine and AWD Setup
For India, the new Audi Q3 is expected to retain the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. The unit is expected to produce around 204 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.
The engine could be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with power sent to all four wheels through Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
Audi Q3: India Rivals
With its new-generation updates, the Audi Q3 will enter a competitive compact luxury SUV segment. It will face the recently launched BMW X1 Long Wheelbase, along with the Mercedes-Benz GLA. More details on the India-spec Q3, including its pricing and variant lineup, are expected to be announced closer to its market launch.
