Triumph Tracker 400: Design

The Triumph Tracker 400 takes clear inspiration from vintage flat-track racing motorcycles. It features a stripped-back body style highlighted by a front number board, compact flyscreen, sculpted fuel tank and a stubby tail section with a seat cowl. Compared to the Speed 400, the Tracker adopts a more aggressive riding posture, with handlebars that are 23mm wider and 134mm lower, along with rear-set and raised footpegs.
Triumph is offering the Tracker 400 in three colour options: Racing Yellow, Aluminium Silver Gloss and Phantom Black with contrasting accents. The motorcycle runs on 17-inch wheels fitted with Pirelli MT60 RS tyres, reinforcing its road-focused flat-track character.

Triumph Tracker 400: Engine

Powering the Tracker 400 is the same 398.15cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine used across Triumph’s 400cc range. However, it is tuned to Thruxton 400 specifications, producing around 41.5bhp at 9,000rpm and 37.5Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.
The chassis of the Tracker 400 is based on a steel perimeter frame which is similar in concept to the Speed 400. But it gets revisions that result in a shorter wheelbase. Suspension duties are carried out by 43mm upside-down (USD) front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Braking duties are carried out via disc brakes at both ends, supported by dual-channel ABS.

Triumph Tracker 400: Features

Despite its minimalist styling, the Tracker 400 comes equipped with modern electronics. The motorcycle gets ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, ABS and full LED lighting. Rider information is displayed through a semi-digital instrument cluster that combines analogue elements with an LCD screen. Like other Triumph 400 models, it is also covered by a two-year unlimited mileage warranty in global markets.

Triumph Tracker 400: Will it launch in India?

The launch of Triumph Tracker 400 is not confirmed yet. Given its niche flat-track positioning, the motorcycle is currently seen as unlikely to arrive in India. Also because the Indian government has reduced tax on two-wheelers under 350cc and the automaker is reported working on a 350cc engine for their lineup to avail benefits of this tax-cut. Hence for now, the Tracker 400 remains a UK and Europe focused product.
