TVS Apache RTR 180 Launched in Kenya

TVS Motor Company has launched the Apache RTR 180 motorcycle in Kenya, marking the brand’s latest step in expanding its premium motorcycle lineup in East Africa. The company continues its partnership with Car & General for distribution in the region.

The Apache RTR 180 comes with a 177.4cc engine that produces 15 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 14.1 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Key features include disc brakes, LED headlamp, race-tuned suspension and tubeless tyres with a wider rear tyre. The model is priced at KES 269,990 and will be sold across 12 Car & General dealerships in Kenya. Colour options include Pearl White, Matte Blue, Gloss Black and Matte Grey.

This year, TVS Motor completes 20 years of the Apache series, which has built a sizable global customer base and is sold in over 60 countries. The company says the Apache brand reflects its long-term focus on bringing technologies developed through its racing operations to regular road-going motorcycles.

TVS Motor has been increasing its investments in research and development over the past few years. R&D spending rose from Rs 495 crore in FY 2022 to 23 to Rs 1,025 crore in FY 2024 to 25. The company has a team of over 2,000 engineers and specialists working on clean, connected and technology-driven mobility solutions.

The launch in Kenya follows the company’s presence at EICMA earlier this year and is part of its plan to grow its international footprint. TVS Motor products are currently sold in more than 90 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America and an expanding market presence in Europe.
