Days after releasing the teaser of the Taigun facelift on social media, Volkswagen has announced the beginning of production of this SUV at its Pune facility in India. The Taigun is the sister SUV of the Kushaq and they both share their underpinnings. Following the update of the Kushaq, it was just a matter of time that Volkswagen updated the Taigun. Now as we get closer to the launch the automaker has also shared images of the upcoming car as well.
Looking at the images of the Taigun facelift shared by Volkswagen it is evident that the car has undergone a significant design overhaul. The front of the car now feels more contemporary in comparison to the outgoing model. The Taigun facelift gets smooth yet sharp lines, revised front headlamps, new front grille with connected DRLs, new radiator grille, revised front bumper, front parking sensors, red GT badging on the front grille and front passenger door (only for GT models). Overall the front look of the facelifted Taigun is elegant and sporty; the outgoing model on the other hand sported a more boxy look.
Apart from cosmetic updates Volkswagen is also expected to introduce a new automatic gearbox with the 1.0 TSI iteration, similar to the one we have seen with the Kushaq. The 6-speed AT in the Taigun 1.0 TSI is expected to be replaced by a new 8-seed AT. The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is likely to be priced similar to the new Kushaq which starts at Rs 10.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
