SK On’s Expansion in North America

This deal marks SK On’s first battery supply partnership with a Japanese automaker. SK On, a subsidiary of SK Group, currently operates two battery plants in the U.S. and is constructing four additional facilities in partnership with other companies. Once fully operational, SK On's annual battery production capacity in the U.S. is expected to exceed 180GWh.

In a recent announcement, Nissan confirmed that they are planning to launch 30 new models over the next three years, including 16 electrified vehicles.
Christian Meunier, chairman, Nissan Americas, said, "This agreement with SK On is a significant milestone for Nissan's electrification journey and supports further investment in U.S. manufacturing.
