Audi Nuvolari Unveiled as Brand’s Most Powerful Production Car with 987bhp
Audi has taken the wraps off its most powerful and fastest production car yet. Called the Nuvolari, the hybrid supercar combines a twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors to deliver a massive 987.31bhp. The new flagship made its public debut at a preview event in Antibes, France, before making its road appearance during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
- Audi Nuvolari produces a combined 987.31bhp from its V8 hybrid powertrain
- 0-100 kmph comes up in just 2.6 seconds
- Top speed is claimed to be over 350 kmph
- Production will be limited to 499 units, with prices starting above £500,000
The Audi Nuvolari is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which works alongside three electric motors and a 7.3 kWh battery pack. Together, the hybrid powertrain produces a system output of 987.31bhp.
Power is sent to all four wheels through Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system. The supercar can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 2.6 seconds, while its top speed exceeds 350 kmph.
The combination of a high-output combustion engine and electric assistance gives the Nuvolari the performance expected from a flagship supercar, while also marking Audi's continued focus on hybrid technology.

Audi Nuvolari: Carbon-Fibre Structure and Active Aerodynamics
Audi has developed the Nuvolari around a carbon-fibre-reinforced Audi Space Frame, which is being used for the first time by the brand. The lightweight structure is designed to improve both performance and handling.
The supercar also gets active aerodynamic technology, including a rear wing equipped with a Formula 1-style drag reduction button. This allows the car to reduce aerodynamic drag when required, helping improve straight-line performance.
The Nuvolari was also tested in a variety of conditions, ranging from cold-weather testing in Lapland to suspension development in southern Spain and high-speed testing at the Nardò test track in Italy.
Audi Developed Nuvolari in Just 405 Days

One of the most notable aspects of the Nuvolari project is how quickly Audi developed the car. According to the company, the project progressed from the initial sketches to a drivable prototype in just 405 days.
Audi says the project was handled by a small, self-contained team working across design, aerodynamics and powertrain engineering. The approach was aimed at reducing the time normally required to move a new performance car from concept to a working prototype.
Audi's Board Member for Technical Development, Rouven Mohr, described the Nuvolari as the fastest and most powerful road car the company has produced. CEO Gernot Döllner also highlighted the project as an example of Audi's effort to adopt a faster and leaner development process.
Limited to Just 499 Units

The Audi Nuvolari will be produced in a limited run of just 499 units. Prices will start at more than £500,000, depending on the market, putting it firmly in the ultra-luxury performance car segment.
The limited production run means the Nuvolari is unlikely to become a major volume seller for Audi. Instead, it will serve as a halo model, showcasing the company's engineering and performance capabilities.
The car's debut also comes at an important time for Audi. The company has reversed its earlier plans to completely phase out development of combustion engines and is now pursuing a mix of combustion, hybrid and electric technologies.
Audi Nuvolari's Formula 1 Connection
The Nuvolari also made its road debut during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, where Audi Formula 1 drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto drove the supercar around the famous street circuit.
Audi is competing in Formula 1 for the first time as a works constructor after taking over the Sauber operation. The Nuvolari's appearance alongside the team's F1 drivers further highlights the connection between Audi's motorsport programme and its high-performance road cars.
Is Audi Nuvolari Coming to India?
The Audi Nuvolari is unlikely to be launched in India due to its extremely limited production run and price tag of more than £500,000. Audi's India portfolio is currently focused more heavily on SUVs and electric vehicles.
However, the new supercar could still play an important role for the brand in markets such as India. Ultra-exclusive models like the Nuvolari act as halo products, helping luxury carmakers build a stronger performance and technology image even among customers who may never actually buy one.
For Audi, the Nuvolari is therefore less about sales numbers and more about demonstrating what the brand's engineers can achieve at the highest level of performance.
