Kawasaki Versys 900 Unveiled with Radar Based Safety System

Kawasaki has officially expanded its adventure-touring lineup with the introduction of the new Versys 900. Built upon the foundation of the Z900 sport-naked platform, the new model is designed to compete in the middleweight adventure segment against established rivals such as the Yamaha Tracer 9, Ducati Multistrada V2, and Triumph Tiger 900. The motorcycle will be available in two distinct variants, the Standard and the SE, with a market launch scheduled for April 2027.
At the heart of the Versys 900 is a 948cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four-cylinder engine. While this powerplant is shared with the Z900, it has been tuned for the touring application, producing 122hp and 97.3Nm of torque. The engine is cradled within an all-new trellis frame, which the manufacturer claims provides improved front-end feedback and a near 50:50 weight distribution. The chassis is supported by a USD fork and a linkage-equipped monoshock, with a standard seat height of 825mm that can be adjusted to 845mm.

Kawasaki Versys 900: Safety & Technology

A significant highlight of the new Versys 900 is the integration of Kawasaki’s Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS). This suite utilizes front and rear radar sensors to provide adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, forward collision warning, and an emergency stop signal as standard equipment. The motorcycle also features a comprehensive electronics package, including ride-by-wire throttle, selectable power modes, traction control, a slip-and-assist clutch, and a bi-directional quickshifter. All of these systems are managed via a 6-axis IMU and monitored through a 5-inch TFT display that supports smartphone connectivity.
The SE variant further enhances the touring experience by including additional factory-fitted equipment. This includes LED fog lamps, hand guards, heated grips, a radiator guard, frame protection sliders, a lower cowl, and a centre stand. Kawasaki has also indicated that future iterations, such as Tourer and Grand Tourer editions, are currently in development.

Kawasaki Versys 900: Will it Come to India?

Kawasaki has introduced the Versys 900 in the UK. The manufacturer has not yet confirmed specific details for other global markets or India. However, we anticipate the Versys 900 to be introduced in the domestic market in the first half of 2027, potentially slotting between the existing Versys 650 and Versys 1100 models.
